If left untreated long enough, stress can manifest itself physically, through eating disorders or even worse disorders, like cutting and other types of physical abuse. By taking your mind off your problems while you exercise, you just might be able to solve them subconsciously, because you’ve taken time to refresh your mind and body.

If you live near a pool, an important thing to do for stress control is to swim. Swim a few laps in the cool waters to get your mind off of your troubles and reduce stress. This is also a great form of exercise, which will indirectly help your stress level.

To reduce stress, try cutting out caffeine from your diet. Switch from regular coffee to decaf and try to drink, either caffeine-free sodas or an alternative drink. If you’re used to drinking a lot of caffeine, ween yourself off slowly so that you don’t get a withdrawal headache. This should help to reduce your stress levels.

One way to ensure that you are able to deal with stress in your life is to make sure that you get enough sleep. Without the proper amount of sleep, your body and mind are not fully able to recover and you will not be in the best shape for making decisions and dealing with possible stress causing situations.

Deep breathing is one of the easiest ways to help relieve stress and tension, and it’s pretty cheap too! You can do it practically anywhere and deep breathing exercises work fast to oxygenate the blood which gives your brain a boost of energy, so you not only lose stress but you gain momentum!

In order to handle large amounts of stress make sure you are adequately rested. Dealing with extreme stress on little or no sleep is very difficult and borderline insane. Those who are poorly rested tend to make bad decisions which can cause more stress, and tend to be more easily irritated.

Stress is something that will eventually wear everyone down unless it’s taken care of. You may believe that you can beat it by just ignoring it, but stress is powerful and it will have its day in the sun. Don’t risk it with inaction.
